I also had a 2005 ram with a hemi of course without mds and the mpg is the same with or without the mds. Op, the bad lifter shouldn't have gotten out of the factory that makes them, but that's mass production. My 04 ram did it, 16 charger srt did it, and my 19 ram does it.

Now have a 2012 and it is terrible with the vibration and low harmonic buzz when in 4 cyl mode and it goes imnto 4 cyl as low as 30 mph. The large 5.7 liter displacement provides ample power when required or desired. 2006 dodge durango 5.7 hemi.
I Am Not Exactly Sure What It Is, But It Is Normal And A Lot Of The 5.7 Motors Have The Tick.
The one lifter sounds like it isn’t “pumping up” which is why you have a tick due to valve lash. Hemi has port injection, not direct. The most significant being engine tick that may indicate lifter or lifter roller failure on the 345 hemi.

Discussion starter · #1 · sep 24, 2020 (edited) only show this user. Most of those hemi engine issues are also encountered with other types of engines. Yes, there are stories with guys going 200k miles on a ticking hemi, and many many stories of them going a week before the cam lob failed.
